Pinoy boxer Mike Plania scores upset victory vs Joshua Greer in Las Vegas

Filipino fighter Mike Plania won the biggest fight of his career after scoring an upset victory against Joshua Greer Jr. on Wednesday (Manila time) as boxing returns in Las Vegas.

"Magic Mike" asserted himself early in the fight as he knocked down the American in the first round with a solid left hook to the jaw.

He put Greer down again in the middle rounds with another left hand en route to winning by majority decision.

"This is gonna change my life," Plania said in the post-fight interview. 

With the win, Plania improved his record to 24-1 at the expense of one of the top contenders in the WBO bantamweight category.

Asked if he can compete for a world title soon, the boxer from General Santos City said he is "always ready" but he will wait for his managers to organize the bouts. —MGP, GMA News
