Dana White throws full support at Tyson vs Jones

UFC president Dana White has had a change of heart surrounding the upcoming fight between former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson and four-division champion Roy Jones Jr.

Tyson, 54, is set to make a comeback inside the ring after 15 years when he takes on the 51-year-old Roy Jones Jr. on Sept. 12 in California.

White, together with several pros, initially disagreed with the idea of Tyson getting back inside the ring.

“The Baddest Man on the Planet” last saw action in 2005 where he lost via sixth-round technical knockout against Irish journeyman Kevin McBride.

Jones, meanwhile, last fought in February 2018 against Scott Sigmon where he won by way of unanimous decision after ten rounds of action.

And before anyone says that the two “oldies” would be better off settling their score on a chessboard, White reminded everyone that the two legends knew exactly what they were doing.

“I’m excited for [Tyson],” said White.

“He says he’s got that fire, he wants to fight, he wants this, Jones wants it, they’re grown men. I’m one hundred percent supportive.”

Asked who he think is going to win the fight, White says he is flying out next week to watch Tyson train then assess from there.

“I’m flying out probably next week to watch him train,” he quipped.

“Ask me that question next week after I go to camp and watch him train. I’ll give you an honest answer.”
