WBC throws support at Mayweather vs Paul exhibition
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has thrown its support at the upcoming exhibition between five-division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and YouTuber Logan Paul on Feb. 20 in a yet to be determined venue.
“I appreciate Logan and Jake, they have worked hard. I will support Floyd versus Logan one hundred percent,” WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told The Sun.
The major sanctioning body headquartered in Mexico also supported the eight-round exhibition between former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. last month and even made a special belt for the two boxing legends.
Logan, who holds a 0-1 record as a professional boxer, is deemed as a massive underdog heading into the bout against Mayweather (50-0, 27KOs).
And while many believe that the exhibition is nothing but a circus and a mismatch, the WBC insists that it is a fight that is good for the sport.
