Floyd Mayweather eyes more fights when he's done with Logan Paul
Former five-division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants to keep fighting after he is done with YouTube sensation Logan Paul, according to Fanmio founder and CEO Solomon Engel.
The 43-year-old Mayweather is scheduled to lock horns with Paul in an exhibition on February 20 in a yet to be determined venue.
Engel, a key figure in promoting the exhibition bout, would not talk ahead of Mayweather, but he is quite convinced that the boxing superstar’s next fight won’t be his last.
“I can't speak for Floyd's future but I can tell you we are looking to work together beyond this fight,” Engel told The Sun.
“There may be future fights beyond this one but it's too early to tell for sure. We have a lot to bring to the table and the sport of boxing, but at the end of the day his future will be determined by him," he added.
Mayweather retired in 2017 with an unbeaten record of 50-0 with 27 knockouts following a technical knockout victory over mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor.
Paul, meanwhile, is 0-1 as a professional boxer and is looked upon as a massive underdog against Mayweather despite his youth, height, and reach advantage.
And should the numbers turn out to be as good as Engel predicts, he revealed that they already have some names in mind that Mayweather could fight in the future.
“He sees some big opportunities here, and I don't want to speak for him but I think we all feel this could be a very historical fight and a number of different levels. Anyone that Floyd faces will bring a lot of eyeballs and a lot of interest," he said.
"There are certainly other potential opponents but I don't want to say names now. I think it is something that requires further conversations with Floyd and those parties before we can see whether those bouts can come about," Engel added. —KG, GMA News
