Nesthy Petecio vows to come back stronger after silver medal finish
Nesthy Petecio delivered the Philippines' second medal in the Tokyo Olympics, but she nonetheless felt the need to apologize for falling just short of a gold medal.
On Twitter, Tuesday, just hours after winning a historic silver for women's boxing, Petecio took the time to address her fellow Filipinos.
"Pasensya na po kayo, silver lang nakayanan ko. Ginawa ko po lahat kanina sa taas ng ring," she said.
("I'm sorry I was only able to get silver. I did everything I could earlier on the ring.")
"Salamat po ng marami sa dasal at supporta niyo. Higit sa lahat sa Diyos! At safe kami pareho ng kalaban ko. Babalik po tayo mas malakas," she added.
(Thank you very much for your prayers and support. Most of all to God! My opponent and I are both safe. We will return stronger.")

Petecio had a gallant stand against Sena Irie of Japan in the gold medal match of the women's featherweight division, but she lost via unanimous decision.
She was gracious in defeat and warmly greeted her old rival, but she became emotional during the medal ceremony.
Petecio is eyeing a second Olympic appearance at Paris 2024 and will also gear up for the Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
