Olympic silver medalist Nesthy Petecio receives promised house in Quezon
Nesthy Petecio received the house and lot promised to her after her silver medal finish in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in August.
Real estate developer Ovialand on Saturday turned over the property located in Candelaria, Quezon to the Filipino boxer, who punched her way to the featherweight finals in Tokyo but fell to Sena Irie of Japan in the gold medal watch.
"Our gift to Nesthy is our way of appreciating her for the success she has achieved as a Filipina boxer and for the honor she brought to our country. We hope she and her family will enjoy what Caliya has to offer," Ovialand president Pammy Olivares-Vital said.
"Hard work and love for family are the two values that Ovialand shares with Nesthy. Without any hesitation, Nesthy has so generously shared the fruits of her victory with her family. And for me, that makes her a true champion."
The duplex home has already been fully furnished before the turnover ceremony while the Original Transfer Certificate of Title is being processed and will be given to Petecio in about two weeks.
Petecio is among the four Filipino athletes who delivered a medal in the Summer Games. Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz copped the country's first gold while fellow boxers Carlo Paalam and Eumir Marcial bagged silver and bronze, respectively.
