Ugas remembers Pacquiao ahead of Spence showdown: 'My life changed after that fight'
WBA world welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas said his life has changed after he shared the ring with the now-retired eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao.
Ugas, who is slated to face the WBC and IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. on April 16 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, USA, pulled off an upset when he defeated the Filipino boxing icon by unanimous decision last August.
"The Pacquiao fight was a great night for me. After that fight, my life changed in even more ways. But I've always kept myself humble. I showed everyone who the WBA champion was. I have my eye on continuing to make history," Ugas said during his media workout.
Ugas, 27-4 with 12 knockouts as a professional boxer, is once again touted as the underdog in his upcoming unification bout against Spence. It is a position that he has been in many times before and it does not faze him a bit anymore.
"Being an underdog means nothing to me. I was the underdog against Pacquiao and now again against Spence. I've always been the underdog and it doesn't faze me. Fans can expect me to fight like a warrior. I'm going to take all of my hard work into the ring on April 16," Ugas said.
