Jonas Sultan makes weight for title fight vs Paul Butler
Former world title challenger Jonas Sultan looked primed and ready as he stepped on the scale for his upcoming fight against Paul Butler.
Sultan and Butler are slated to battle for the WBO interim bantamweight title on April 23 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.
Sultan, 18-5 with 11 knockouts as a professional prizefighter, tipped the scale at 117.6 pounds while Butler weighed in at 117.8 pounds.
Sultan came in as a last-minute replacement for WBO world bantamweight John Riel Casimero after the latter violated a British Boxing Board of Control policy that prohibits fighters to use a sauna to make weight for a fight.
Casimero, 33, was given 48 hours by the World Boxing Organization to explain why he should not be stripped of his world title.
Should the sanctioning body decide to strip Casimero, the fight between Sultan and Butler could be elevated to a full-blown world title fight.
