Floyd Mayweather promises competitive match in upcoming exhibition
Former five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is expecting a competitive fight when he returns inside the ring for another exhibition against Don Moore on May 14 at the helipad of Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai.
"I am pretty sure every fighter up here will put up a hell of a show, it is going to be very competitive," Mayweather said during the pre-fight press conference.
"That is what we want to give the people, a competitive and exciting event. We want everybody cheering and happy because that is what this brutal sport is about. All of us will go out there and give you guys a show come Saturday."
The 45-year-old Mayweather retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an unblemished record of 50-0 with 27 knockouts after he defeated mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor via technical knockout. Moore, meanwhile, is 18-0 with 12 knockouts as a pro who last fought in 2016.
Though Mayweather promised to never compete again, he nevertheless fought in exhibition bouts after retirement. He knocked out Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018 then went eight rounds with YouTuber Logan Paul in June 2021.
