Inactive Casimero dropped from The RING bantamweight ranking, Astrolabio climbs to top 6
Former three-division champion John Riel Casimero took another loss outside the ring after getting dropped from the prestigious The RING bantamweight ranking after a year of inactivity.
Casimero, 31-4 with 21 knockouts as a pro, last saw action against Guillermo Rigondeaux in August 2021 where he won via split decision.
At odds with his former handlers at Manny Pacquiao's MP Promotions, Casimero's demise started when two of his scheduled mandatory defenses against Paul Butler were canceled.
Casimero and Butler were initially scheduled to fight in December but the bout was canceled when the former was taken to a hospital for gastritis on the day of the weigh-in.
In April, Casimero was forcibly withdrawn out of the rescheduled contest after he violated a British Boxing Board of Control rule that prohibits fighters from using the sauna to cut weight.
He was officially stripped of the WBO world bantamweight title the following month.
Filipino pug Vincent Astrolabio, meanwhile, has climbed The RING bantamweight ranking and is now ranked at no.6.
Astrolabio, 17-3 with 12 knockouts as a prizefighter, pulled an upset in his latest outing against Guillermo Rigondeaux in February in Dubai where he won via unanimous decision.
