De La Hoya picks Jake Paul to beat Anderson Silva by knockout
Retired six-division champion Oscar De La Hoya is predicting a stoppage win for YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul when he takes on former UFC middleweight world champion Anderson Silva on October 29 at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Silva, 3-1 with 2 knockouts as a professional boxer, is seen by fans and scribes alike as a step up in competition for the 25-year-old Paul, who is yet to face a boxer in his career.
De La Hoya, however, is convinced that Paul would overcome the mixed martial arts legend on fight night.
"That's a good fight. I am going to go with Jake Paul. He seems like he's getting into the rhythm of things. He doesn't have too many fights, he loves boxing, he's a hard worker, and has a lot of power," De La Hoya told Inside Fighting.
Silva, though 47 years old, has proven that he can still be a handful for just about anyone inside the ring especially after he defeated a former world champion in Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. last year.
But according to De La Hoya, Silva's most impressive win yet in boxing is flawed.
"If he (Paul) touches Silva, he's going down. Everyone's going based on what Silva did to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz. Come on, I mean, Chavez Jr. wasn't even twenty-percent of himself," De La Hoya said.
