Jake Paul sees opportunity to become a legend by beating Anderson Silva
YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Jake Paul sees an opportunity to become a legend should he get past former UFC middleweight world champion Anderson Silva this weekend, October 29 at Gila River Arena in Glendale, USA.
The 47-year-old Silva, a mixed martial arts legend who is 3-1 with 2 knockouts as a boxer, is seen as a step up in competition for Paul as he is yet to fight a boxer in his career. For Paul, beating the Brazilian MMA legend would catapult his name up in the sport.
“It’s always good to have a big challenge because it pushes you to be perfect. There’s no room for lack of motivation or downtime or complaining or anything like that,” Paul said.
“I know that this is a massive opportunity to catapult myself into the history books. To be a legend, you have to beat a legend and that’s what I have the opportunity to do here.”
In his last outing, Paul won via highlight-reel knockout against former UFC welterweight world champion Tyron Woodley. He plans to do the same to Silva come fight night, who he admits was his idol growing up.
“He was my idol growing up and it’s a good change of pace. I have nothing but love for him, but I’m going to knock him out respectfully,” Paul quipped.
