MP Promotions will seek world title fight for Jerwin Ancajas after 'one or two fights' at bantamweight
MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons is looking to have former world super flyweight champion Jerwin fight for a world title again after a couple of bouts in the bantamweight division.
Ancajas, 33-3-2 with 22 knockouts as a professional boxer, is coming off back-to-back defeats against Fernando Martinez this year.
“We chose 118 [pounds] because there are many opportunities [there],” Ancajas’ trainer and manager Joven Jimenez said during the Philippine Sportswriters Association forum last Tuesday.
“And maybe after one or two fights, we get to have a title fight. That was the promise of Sean Gibbons.”
The 30-year-old Ancajas previously announced that his next fight would take place in the Philippines in February next year against a yet-to-be-announced opponent and venue.
