Carl Jammes Martin signs contract to fight Ikegawa on Casimero vs Nghitumbwa undercard
Filipino super bantamweight prospect and IBF Pan Pacific super bantamweight champion Carl Jammes Martin will face Japanese prospect Jun Ikegawa on the undercard of John Riel Casimero vs. Fillipus Nghitumbwa on May 13 at Okada Manila in Paranaque City.
Martin, 21-0 with 17 knockouts as a professional boxer, is coming off a busy 2022 having fought thrice last year winning two of the three bouts by way of stoppage. His upcoming bout against the Japanese is scheduled for ten rounds.
“From what I watched, Ikegawa seems to have a lot of amateur experience. I cannot think that I have an edge in experience only because he's had six bouts. I can see with the way he moves that he has been boxing for a long time,” Martin said.
JL Martin, one of Carl Jammes' managers and his sister, believes that he will be stylistically tested on fight night.
“We are looking forward to this bout because the Japanese will give Carl the type of fight that we want: a cerebral fight. Carl mostly dealt with aggressors. Now it’s time to face tactical boxers like Ikegawa,” JL stated.
