Nate Diaz moves to boxing, will fight Jake Paul in August

Mixed martial arts fan-favorite Nate Diaz is set to make his professional boxing debut against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on August 5 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

The 37-year-old Diaz parted ways with the UFC in 2022 when he finished the last fight in his contract with a submission win over Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 279 last September.

“Besides Canelo [Alvarez] he’s the biggest thang in boxing. I’m here to conquer that,” Diaz stated.

“I’m the king of combat sports and then I’m headed back to get my UFC belts. I f-cked up Conor for acting out and now here I am again, like a superhero of the real fight game.”

Paul, meanwhile, is coming off the first loss of his professional career following a split decision loss at the hands of Tommy Fury this past February.

For Paul, his upcoming bout would be a chance to redeem himself.

“Nate Diaz is considered one of the most badass fighters of all time, but he and his team have been running their mouths for too long,” Paul said.
