Jason Moloney boxes past Astrolabio to claim WBO world title
Jason Moloney had to put on a boxing clinic to emerge victorious via majority decision over Filipino Vincent Astrolabio and claim the vacant WBO world bantamweight title this Sunday (Manila time) at Stockton Arena in California, USA.
Both fighters threw crisp jabs in the early going looking to land bombs of their own. Moloney, meanwhile, mixed it up and made Astrolabio guess by moving around while hiding behind his jab.
Astrolabio started to let go of his power punches more in round three and stunned Moloney with an uppercut. The Australian opted to box the following rounds, confusing the Filipino with his jab and movement.
Way ahead on the scorecards, Moloney stuck to his game plan while Astrolabio did not display much urgency, which allowed the former to cruise to a majority decision. The scorecards were 114-114, 115-113, and 116-112.
