Team Lomachenko to appeal loss to Devin Haney

Egis Klimas, manager of former three-division world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko, said he will protest his boxer's unanimous decision loss against the undisputed lightweight world champion Devin Haney this past weekend at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"This is the biggest robbery in the middle of the day. We are not going to let it go. I guarantee we are going to protest. I guarantee we are going to appeal the decision because somebody needs to end this injustice," Klimas said at the post-fight press conference.

Lomachenko went the distance with the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF world lightweight champion Haney. Though many fans and scribes had him winning the bout, the three judges at ringside saw otherwise and awarded the bout to the hometown favorite.

But in Klimas' opinion, the official outcome was simply unacceptable.

"Being robbed like that, it is not acceptable. I guarantee we are not going to let it go. We are going all the way to the end to appeal. Maybe we are not going to win. Maybe it is going to be as it is, but we want to show [there] has to be justice," Klimas stressed.
