Nonito Donaire Sr. polishing Reymart Gaballo's skills, promises KO win in upcoming fight
Renowned boxing trainer Nonito Donaire Sr. has been honing Reymart Gaballo's skill set ahead of his next fight against Michael Bravo on June 17 at Elorde Ballroom in Sucat, Paranaque.
"We started training in February and we have not stopped since then. I coached him about what he can't do inside the ring and his mistakes," Donaire Sr. told in an interview on Sparring Sessions.
"Reymart has the power, but the problem is he keeps punching not knowing that his opponent allows that to counter. He relies too much on his power. We had to work on his defense, he was flat-footed, and we had to work on his stance. Now he moves around."
Gaballo, 26, is ranked in the top four of the WBC, WBO, and IBF world bantamweight rankings. With the gold in their sights and a stay-busy fight next week, Donaire Sr. hopes to get a crack at WBO world bantamweight champion Jason Moloney in the near future.
"That is a hundred percent [Gaballo is going to win by knockout next week]. We are next in line [in the WBO]. We are hoping to be next in line for Moloney," he quipped.
