Reymart Gaballo goes the distance with Bravo to retain WBO oriental title
Reymart Gaballo made a successful defense of his WBO oriental bantamweight title following a hard-fought split decision nod over Michael Bravo on Saturday at Elorde Sports Complex in Sucat, Parañaque.
What was supposed to be a stay-busy fight turned out to be harder than expected for Gaballo as the left-handed Bravo proved tough to crack over the course of the 10-round bout.
Gaballo, a former interim bantamweight champion, was also on the receiving end of accidental headbutts throughout the night which prompted the referee to take a point away from Bravo in round six.
In the end, Gaballo got his much-needed rounds and walked away with a split decision victory to improve his professional boxing record to 26-1 with 21 knockouts. The scorecards were 95-94 for Bravo and 96-93 twice for Gaballo.
