Takuma Inoue suffers injury, world title fight vs. Ancajas postponed
The upcoming world title fight between former super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas and WBA world bantamweight titleholder Takuma Inoue has been postponed.
The pair was supposed to lock horns inside the ring on November 15 in Tokyo, but Inoue (18-1, 4KOs) suffered an injury in sparring which prompted his handler to call off the fight.
Without a headliner, the showrunners ultimately decided to postpone the entire event on a yet-to-be-determined date.
"Due to a fracture in sparring the November 15th game has been postponed," Inoue's handler Hideyuki Ohashi announced on Instagram in Japanese.
Ancajas, 34-3-2 with 23 knockouts as a boxer, lost his then IBF world super flyweight title in his tenth defense against Fernando Martinez in February last year.
A rematch took place eight months later where Martinez emerged victorious again by unanimous decision.
The loss prompted Ancajas to move up in weight class and has since defeated Wilner Soto via technical knockout in a tune-up fight.
