Reymart Gaballo loses no. 1 spot in world ranking

One-time world title challenger Reymart Gaballo lost his no.1 spot and got demoted to no.10 in the latest WBO world bantamweight ranking following his defeat at the hands of the unknown Kenbun Torres earlier this month.

Gaballo, 27, was dropped three times in the opening round en route to a crushing technical knockout defeat in round one. According to his trainer Nonito Donaire Sr., his boxer got careless and paid the price.

"We had good training but he got careless. He wanted to finish early, though I said that when he releases a punch he needs to get back on his defense because he (Torres) will counter with a hook," Donaire Sr. said in a previous interview.

It was an activity bout-turned-disaster for Gaballo, who was being lined up for a world title shot against the reigning WBO world bantamweight champion Yoshiki Takei later this year.
