What reward will Nesthy Petecio get for claiming Olympic bronze medal?
Nesthy Petecio secured the country's fourth medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics after falling short against Poland's Julia Szeremeta in the women's 57kg semifinals on early Thursday.
With the loss, Petecio settled for a bronze medal which was already assured when she punched a semis ticket.
This is her second Olympic medal following her silver back in Tokyo three years ago.
This is also Philippine boxing's second bronze after Aira Villegas got one on Wednesday.
As Petecio got bronze, an incentive is expected to be awarded to her as mandated by Republic Act 10699.
She will receive P2,000,000 as a bronze medalist of an individual event.
For gold medalists in individual events, an incentive of P10,000,000 is expected while silver medalists get P5,000,000.
Her coach, meanwhile, will also receive an incentive equivalent to half of Petecio's reward.
The Philippines currently has two gold medals from Carlos Yulo and two bronze medals in the ongoing Summer Games.
