Charly Suarez gets crack at Navarrete for WBO world title

Charly Suarez will finally get a crack at a world title when he takes on the WBO world super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete on May 10 at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, USA.

"MEXICO VS THE PHILIPPINES. Emanuel 'Vaquero' Navarrete defends his Junior Lightweight title against undefeated Charly Suarez on May 10 in San Diego," Top Rank announced on Tuesday.

It has been a long time coming for Suarez, rated as the number one contender to the 130-pound WBO world title held by the Mexican three-division champion Navarrete.

Holding a perfect boxing record of 18-0 with 10 knockouts, the 36-year-old Filipino pugilist is expected to face the toughest challenge yet in his career against Navarrete.

Navarrete, a veteran of 42 fights with an impressive 39-2-1 with 32 knockouts slate, is coming off a sixth-round knockout over former world champion Oscar Valdez last December.

The Mexican is also known by Filipino fight fans for stopping  Pinoy boxers Mig Elorde and Jeo Santisima in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
