Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios: What you need to know

Manny Pacquiao is returning to the ring and will fight WBC world welterweight champion Mario Barrios on July 19 (July 20, Philippine time) in Las Vegas.

Who is Manny Pacquiao?

Pacquiao, a Filipino boxing Hall of Famer, is an eight-division champion who retired from the sport in 2021 ahead of his campaign for the Philippine presidency. However, Pacquiao, who was a senator then, lost in the race.

In boxing, the 46-year old Pacquiao has been enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 2025. He has a boxing record of 62 wins, 39 from knockouts, eight losses, and two draws. He last fought professionally in 2021 against Yordenis Ugas where he lost via unanimous decision.

Who is Mario Barrios?

Mexican-American boxer Barrios is the reigning WBC welterweight champion.

At 30 years old, he has a fight record of 29 wins, 18 from knockouts, two losses, and one draw.

He last fought against Abel Ramos which ended in a draw.

When is the Pacquiao vs Barrios fight?

The Pacquiao-Barrios fight will be held on July 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In the Philippines, however, the fight will air on the morning of July 20.

Who are the undercards?

Some of the undercards in the Pacquiao-Barrios fight are other Filipino boxers Eumir Marcial, who will take on Bernard Joseph, while Mark Magsayo will face Jorge Mata Cuellar. 

Gary Russell Junior will take on Hugo Castaneda in a lightweight bout, while David Picasso will face Kyonosuke Kameda in a junior featherweight bout.
