Odds slightly in favor of Pacquiao over Diaz

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao may be moving into a heavier weight division that he's not used to fighting in, but the betting odds are slightly in his favor, according to T.K. Stewart in an article posted Sunday (Monday in the Philippines) at www.boxingscene.com. Pacquiao decided to move up to the 135-pound lightweight division shortly after snatching the World Boxing Council (WBC) super featherweight from Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez last March. He will face David Diaz on June 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a challenge for the Mexican-American's WBC lightweight title. As Stewart put it: "If you're looking to get some action and place your hard-earned cash on the underdog from Chicago to upset Pacquiao you can plunk down $100 and walk away with $360 if Diaz manages the improbable. "On the other hand, Pacquiao, now universally regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, is a -450 favorite to win a belt in a fourth weight class. In other words, a betting man will have to drop $450 dollars on Pacquiao to walk away $100 richer." To read the entire article, visit www.boxingscene.com. - GMANews.TV
