NBA Madness brings in 2-time champ, cheerdance team


MANILA, Philippines - Two-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Malik Rose of the New York Knicks will lead a cast of NBA personalities in the four-day 2008 NBA Madness scheduled Thursday at the Glorietta. Rose, who won two championships with the San Antonio Spurs, will join the Sacramento Kings Dance Team and Rufus Lynx, the mascot of the Charlotte Bobcats in the four-day event. The Larry O’Brien trophy, the hardware given to the NBA champions, will also be part of the event as part of the DHL-NBA Trophy Tour. It is the second time the trophy will come to the Philippines. Rose, in his 12th year in the NBA, will conduct the Monmilk Basketball Clinic for Filipino kids and share basketball tips and insights. He will also participate in the Center-Court competitions and interact with fans. The Sacramento Kings Dance Team, one of the most exciting dance teams in the NBA, will entertain the crowd with their a high-energy performance, while Rufus Lynx will do an acrobatic exhibition that includes comical routines and dunking skills. To celebrate the seventh year of NBA Madness in the Philippines, fans will be able to participate in more Center Court competitions and win more prizes. The five weekly champions of each competition, plus the next two highest scorers overall will be invited to compete in the Grand Finals. The champion in each event will join Malik Rose, the Sacramento Dance Team and Rufus Lynx at a special dinner. - GMANews.TV
