FEU opens defense of UAAP beach-volleyball crowns

MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University will feature new faces when the Morayta-based school defends the men’s and women’s championships in the UAAP beach-volleyball tournament that starts Saturday at the Caloocan campus of the University of the East. Anna Abanto and Marigail Tolentino have huge shoes to fill as they go up against Adamson and National University in their initial matches. Wendy Semana, who has graduated, and Shaira Gonzalez, who decided to focus on indoor volleyball, went undefeated in the women’s side last season. In the men’s division, Joshua Alcarde and Jerry Mabuto, who also produced a sweep last year, will don the FEU colors again. They open defense of their title against University of Santo Tomas. University of the East, De La Salle and University of the Philippines are also competing in the tournament’s second season in the regular UAAP calendar. – GMANews.TV
