13 Filipino-foreigners to lead PBL rookie camp
MANILA, Philippines â A total of 13 foreign-raised Filipinos have already expressed their intention to join the rookie camp of the Philippine Basketball League on Saturday at the Jose Rizal University Gym in Mandaluyong City. Joseph Deas, a five-foot-11 guard from Rockhurst University, and Jason Jackson, a six-foot-two guard who played for Western New Mexico, another Division II school, lead the list of aspirants. Also set to join the camp scheduled in the morning are: Fil-Americans Josh Vanlandingham, Chriss Ross, Anthony Davis and Edwin Torres Jr.; Australia-based Christopher Pails, Reighner Macasaet and John Rowe; Canada-raised Keith Erwin Cayanong and Janzen Castillo; part-Arab Khalif Fortune and part-German Thomas Wagner. As of Monday, a total of 82 players have already signed up for the Rookie Draft on September 30 but PBL commissioner Chino Trinidad said he expects the number to swell. âWe have a lot of talents around who have yet to sign up, so I expect at least 100 participants for the coming Rookie Draft," Trinidad said. Trinidad added that he expects Ateneoâs Rabeh al-Hussaini, Chris Tiu and Eric Salamat to join the draft. Other notable players who have already signed up are La Salleâs James Mangahas, Cebuâs three-point artist Von Harry Lanete of Universiy of Visayas, Adamsonâs Jerick Canada, Ateneoâs Jonathan Uichico, Vengie Vergara of West Negros University, and Enrico Tirona of San Beda. â GMANews.TV
