RP’s Jaro loses in world-title bout via unanimous decision


MANILA, Philippines – Sonny Boy Jaro of the Philippines lost to Edgar Sosa of Mexico in a world-title bout Saturday in Mexico City. Jaro challenged for Sosa’s World Boxing Council light-flyweight championship but lost unanimously in the judges’ scorecards 117-110, 118-109, 117-110. It was Sosa’s sixth successful defense of the title he won when he beat US-based Filipino Brian Viloria in April 2007. Sosa upped his record to 33-5 won-lost. It was Jaro’s first crack at a world title. The Silay City native’s card fell to 28-7-5 (win-loss-draw). – GMANews.TV
