V-League: San Sebastian VI escapes handicapped Ateneo

MANILA, Philippines – San Sebastian notched its first win in the Shakey's V-League Second Conference after the Lady Stags nosed out the Ateneo Lady Eagles 24-26, 25-13, 25-19, 25-18 late Sunday at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City. Suzanne Roces led San Sebastian (1-1) with 19 hits and got ample support from Rysabelle Devanadera and Laurence Ann Latigay whose offense sparked the Lady Stags' attack. Rookie Fille Cainglet finished with 12 hits for Ateneo, which saw top player Michelle Laborte sit out the middle sets because of cramps, an absence that doused cold water on the Lady Eagles' hot start.
