Shakey's V-League: 2nd finalist known after UST, Adamson KO match

MANILA, Philippines - A dynasty and the reigning champion dispute the second finals berth in the Shakey's V-League volleyball tournament, as University of Santo Tomas and Adamson collide in a semis knockout match on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan. The UST Tigresses, former three-time champions, and the Adamson Lady Falcons, who copped the First Conference title earlier this year, battle at 4 p.m. Adamson, the best-of-three opener winner, and UST, which equalized the series, each won via four tough sets, with all but two sets decided in three points or less. The winner faces the San Sebastian Lady Stags for the Second Conference championship. The Lady Stags won their semifinals via two-game sweep of the De La Salle Lady Archers. "We need to play 100 percent if we want to win again," Tigresses coach Cesael delos Santos said. "The better-conditioned team will win this series." "The girls' morale remains high," Lady Falcons coach Dulce Pante said. "It's still anybody's ballgame and we will fight back." The defensive tandem of Aiza Mazo and Venus Bernal will spearhead UST's attack. Nerissa Bautista, the First Conference MVP, and Angela Benting will lead Adamson's charge. - GMANews.TV
