Round 4: Pacquiao focuses aim on De la Hoya's face
MANILA, Philippines â Manny Pacquiao kept aiming his punches at the face of Oscar de la Hoya, dancing around the Golden Boy, in the fourth round of their nontitle welterweigh boutt at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both fighters started the World Boxing Council (WBC) bout tentative in their moves as they sized each other up, but De la Hoya was visibly a bit more tense than Pacquiao. Pacquiao managed to sneak in several punches to De la Hoya's face in the first round, putting his fans into a frenzy of cheers. The Golden Boy had some trouble landing his punches on the visibly quicker Pacman. The fighters went through the third round with a slightly slower pace, but with Pacquiao keeping his aim at the Golden Boy's face. Pacman landed a solid jab smack into De la Hoya's face at one point. Dream Match, as the much-awaited 12-round bout is billed, has drawn thousands of Filipinos and Mexicans to the hotel to cheer their fighters â the world's top pound-for-pound boxers against the sport's biggest moneymaker, earning him the nickname Golden Boy. De la Hoya (39-5-0, 30 knockouts) has the advantage in height â 5'-10" to Pacquiao's 5'-6.5") and reach (70 inches to Pacquiao's 67 inches). But the 29-year-old Pacquiao (47-3-2, 35 knockouts) has the advantage in age to the 35-year-old De la Hoya and speed, as some analysts believe. - GMANews.TV
