Bolt, Walker named Jamaica athletes of year

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Olympic champions Usain Bolt and Melanie Walker were named Jamaican athletes of the year on Tuesday. "It feels good to be recognized once again," Bolt said of the award given out by the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association. He was named world athlete of the year by the IAAF last month. Bolt won gold medals in the 100 and 200 meters and 4x100 relay at the Beijing Games in August, all in world record times. He was the first man to win the three Olympic events in a single games since Carl Lewis in 1984. Walker won the 400 hurdles in Beijing in an Olympic-record 52.64 seconds. – AP
