UAAP softball: Adamson continues to roll past foes
MANILA, Philippines â Adamson showed no signs of slowing down in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) softball tournament repeating over La Salle, 9-1, on Wednesday at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) field. Harlyn Tubongbanua, playing first base and the Lady Falcons number two in their batting order, scored two runs and had an RBI in the first two innings when the multi-titled team zoomed to a 5-0 lead. Anavic Jugos went 1-for-2 with an RBI while Cloiene Muyco and Marissa Mahilum drove a run each as the Lady Falcons tagged the La Salle bullpen with nine hits and improve to a league-best 6-0 record. Adamson starter Erica Escanela allowed La Salle to one run on three hits in four innings. She was replaced by Muyco, who completed the near shut-out win by striking out the three batters she faced and give coach Ana Santiago a fitting birthday celebration. âWe played very well on defense but Iâm still not satisfied with our hitting because they relaxed. We have to improve since we will be up tough teams in our next games," said Santiago, who celebrated her birthday on Wednesday. University of the East, meanwhile, capitalized on University of the Philippinesâ nine errors to pull off a 4-0 win over the defending champions. Jenny Pangilinan had a no-relief job on the mound for the Lady Warriors as she surrendered three hits, struck out five and gave up one walk. âI really believe we have the talent to compete. Our players were in their tip-top form for this game and if we can maintain this form, we may win some more games in the second round," said Velasco. UST remained in second place with 4-2 record after cruising to a 14-7 victory over Ateneo in the other game. â GMANews.TV
