Peñalosa brothers brought out the best in me, says Donaire

MANILA, Philippines – Nonito Donaire Jr. is thankful that the training he received from the Peñalosa brothers – Gerry, Jonathan and Dodie Boy – brought out the best in him. “They (Peñalosa brothers) brought back my hunger and desire in boxing. I love boxing. People had not seen my potential yet. That is one thing they brought out in me," said Donaire, dubbed the “Filipino Flash". Jonathan believes Donaire, who will put his International Boxing Organization (IBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight title belts, could follow in the footsteps of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao. “Malayo ang mararating ni Nonito, kumbaga siya ang susunod ke Manny Pacquiao. Sa ensayo kasi kahit pahirapan mo siya ng todo ay okay lang sa kanya. Gusto talaga niya manalo sa laban," said Jonathan, who along with his brothers sought the approval of Donaire’s father before training him. “Inborn ang talent niya (Donaire). Scientific siya na boxer at madali maka-catch up dahil nag iisip siya ng techniques," said Gerry, who will face Mexican German Meraz on Sunday in Cebu City. – GMANews.TV
