Search for next Paeng continues with SM Bowling Cup

MANILA, Philippines -The quest to discover the next Paeng Nepomucenos and Bong Coos continues as the 8th SM Bowling Cup holds its two remaining legs for the season. The third leg is slated on May 17 and the Pepsi Grand Nationals is set to unfold later to determine the best among the lot. “The tournament is now on its eighth year because we’ve always believed that the Philippines has a lot of potential talent in the likes of Paeng Nepomuceno and Bong Coo," said tournament marketing officer Camille Aquipel, who, along with Dennis Cruz (AVP for marketing), Bonifacio Solis (division head) and Ric Camaligan (VP SM Leisure) graced Tuesday’s PSA Forum. Among the biggest winners in the long-running tournament were Ric Pacana, who topped the season-opening Gatorade National Finals and Rodolfo `Audi’ Castro, the 2nd leg winner who once trained under the legendary Nepomuceno and is a coach himself for the United States Bowling Congress. Bowling officials also cited 15-year old Dyan Coronacion, now a member of the RP bowling pool, as among those who honed their skills during the meet, even scoring the only perfect game of 300 for the season. In addition to polishing their skills and getting recognition on the lanes, the Paeng and Bong-wannabes can shoot for a bonus: Brand new cars will be given away to the two leg winners. More than P3 million in cash are also at stake in the tournament, Camaligan added. GMANews.TV
