Athletes join crusade against drug abuse

MANILA, Philippines – Athletes will take a break from their training to join the crusade against drug abuse and participate in the Grand Batang Iwas Droga (BIDA) March on Saturday in Manila. The Filipino athletes will join their coaches, officials and employees of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and many others in the activity that will start at the CCP Complex and culminate at the Quirino Grandstand. The event aims to earn the Guinness Book of World Record’s recognition as the biggest gathering of anti-drug abuse crusaders. According to PSC chairman Harry Angping, this is the sports community's contribution to the government’s efforts to the address the country's drug problems. “Being at the forefront of physical fitness and healthy lifestyle, we at the PSC condemn drug abuse and drug-related violence as the stubborn problems hindering development," Angping said. –GMANews.TV
