Batang PBA Summer League goes nationwide

MANILA, Philippines – What used to be a summer basketball league for Metro Manila kids will also have stops in Baguio, Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro as this year’s edition of the Batang PBA Summer League goes nationwide. The league, open to kids 9 to 12 years old, aims to find and hone the skills of future PBA stars in the provinces. PBA operations and technical director Rickie Santos sad the summer league’s Metro Manila leg will still feature 10 cities and municipalities each representing the 10 PBA teams. The provincial regional tournaments, meanwhile, will be held in the cities of Baguio, Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro. Santos said the league has assigned a partner-organizer in those areas who will be tasked to run the regional tournaments while the PBA will continue to hold the Metro Manila event. Those who are interested in joining the Metro Manila leg may inquire at the PBA office at 638-1815 to 17 and look for Junior Bengua while the contact persons for the provincial regional tournaments are: Buboy Sabal (Cagayan de Oro/ 09188001992), Toni Agustin or Jake Alyzena (Bacolod/09063748789) and Antonio del Monte (Baguio/09185618364). – GMANews.TV
