Dacera brothers rule PASA’s G-League swim meet

MANILA, Philippines – The Dacera siblings of General Santos City turned the pool into their own playground sweeping the gold medals in the events they competed in in the recent Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (PASA) G-League Series at the SMRAA Pool in Koronadal City, South Cotabato. Omar Philip Dacera ruled the boys’ 13-year old category with golden performances in the 200m freestyle, 200m individual medley, 100m butterfly and 1,500m freestyle while older brother, 15-year old Lawin, bested his rivals in his age group winning the 200m free, 200 IM and 1500m free events. Their exploits were enough to catapult the Dadiangas Torpedoes on top of the swimfest, which serves as the qualifying meet for the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) age group competitions this year. The Torpedoes fished out a total of 85 medals – 52 gold, 23 silver and 10 bronze. The GenSan Warriors pair of June Ian Roger Serisola and Krissle Faye Tuya (boys’ and girls’ 11), and the trio of Anjala Rae Jamerlan (girls’ 15), Ruentone Jugar (boys 16) and Joel Zapphire Urtado (boys’ Over-17) of Polomolok Aqua Sprinters collected five gold medals each to emerge with 45 points apiece. Davao City mermaid Dara Evangelista of the Tropang Growee-Evangelista Aquatics followed up her awesome performance in last week’s Araw ng Dabaw swimfest with another dazzling performance in the girls’ 11-year old division.
