Van Boening, Deuel lead US charge in Philippine Open
MANILA, Philippines â Two former US Open titlists will lead an eight-man American contingent to the first-ever Philippine Ten Ball Open on May 26-31 at the SM Megamall. Tapped by the Billiards Congress of America to carry the fight for the US in the RP tournament are Shane Van Boening, Corey Deuel, Gabe Owen and Oscar Dominguez and female cuemasters Melissa Little, Sarah Rousey and Julie Kelley. Van Boening, currently the No.1 player in the US and sixth in the world, was the US Open winner in 2007. A participant in last yearâs inaugural staging of the World Ten Ball Championship in Manila, Van Boening comes to Manila fresh from his Predator International 10-Ball Championship run. Deuel, winner of 2001 US Open, has been a regular competitor in the Philippines the previous years. After their campaign in the Philippine Ten Ball Open, Van Boening and company will take part in the China Open in Shanghai middle of June and the Qatar Open in late June. The three women participants, Little, Rousey and Kelley, will also compete in the WPA Womenâs World Ten Ball Championship scheduled on June 1-6 at the SM Mall of Asia. âGMANews.TV
