US volleyball player tests positive for steroid

ROME — The Italian Olympic Committee says American volleyball player Kim Willoughby has tested positive for a steroid. CONI said Thursday that Willoughby tested positive for nandrolone after her Italian club Perugia played Cesena on April 5. Willoughby played on the American team that won the silver medal at last year's Beijing Olympics. The Perugia club's Web site says Willoughby returned to the U.S. immediately after the team was eliminated from the league playoffs in April, citing a family emergency. – AP
