Patrombon a champion twice over in Smart tennis
MANILA, Philippines - Jeson Patrombon snagged two titles Sunday in the final leg of the Smart Head Junior Tennis Tour Satellite Circuit age-group tournament at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center. The 16-year-old Patrombon swept past his rivals as the top-seed beat No. 7 Dheo Talatayod, 6-2, 6-3, in the boys' 16-and-under final and stamped his class on Kim Ivor Saraza, 6-3, 6-4, in the boys' 18-and-under final. Patrombon, who has already won an International Tennis Federation (ITF) Grade Five tournament in Singapore last year, has been playing twice during the duration of the tournament but did not sputter to take the crowns. In the 18-U finale, Patrombon trailed, 1-4, during the second set but never allowed Saraza to score again as he broke serve twice on his way to victory. âBinabalik ko lang âyung mga tira niya hanggang sa nagkakaerror na siya," said Patrombon, a product of the Tennis Academy of the Philippines Foundation of former Davis Cupper Manny Tecson. In other results, Jasmine Tan Ho beat Shannie Olivarez, 6-2, 6-1, to win the girls' 18-U crown. Olivarez, nevertheless, went home a champion after stunning No. 1 Marinel Rudas, 6-2, 5-7, 10-8, in the girls' 16-U final.
