Batangas aims to repeat over Cebu in Baseball Philippines

MANILA, Philippines – The Batangas Bulls hope to sweep the Cebu Dolphins in Saturday’s game in the Baseball Philippines Series 5. If the Bulls, already a semifinalist in the six-team tournament, are successful against the Dolphins, they will notch their ninth win and jeopardize Cebu's target of bagging the second outright semifinal berth. Then Batangas can go for a record 10-0 slate on Sunday when the Bulls again meet the Dolphins, who currently are at second spot with their 4-2 slate. “We will try to finish the tournament unbeaten because no one has finished the tournament with a 10-0 record," said Batangas team manager Randy Dizer However, pundits are looking at a very tough match between Batangas and Cebu, who are eager to make an immediate comeback after an 8-7 loss to the Alabang Tigers last Sunday. In Saturday's first game, the Tigers will be facing a somewhat resurgent Forward Taguig Patriots, who bagged their first win after seven defeats against the Dumaguete Unibikers, 4-3, last Sunday. In another match at the Sto. Niño field in Marikina City, the Manila Sharks will try to strengthen its bid of acquiring the second automatic semifinal berth when it meets the Dumaguete Unibikers. Also on Saturday, games in the Junior Baseball Philippines will resume with Cagayan trying to bag its third triumph versus Marikina (1-0) at the Sto. Nino field while Quezon City (0-1) and Alabang (0-2) will meet at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium. – Perry Legaspi, GMANews.TV Standings W L x-Batangas 8 0 Cebu 4 2 Manila 4 3 Dumaguete 3 4 Alabang 2 6 Taguig 1 7 x - clinched semifinals berth Games Saturday: (Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium) 7:00 a.m. Alabang vs Forward Taguig 10:30 a.m. Cebu vs Batangas 2:00 p.m. Alabang vs Quezon City (Junior Baseball) (Sto Niño Field, Marikina City) 10:30 a.m. Dumaguete vs Manila 2:00 p.m. Marikina vs Cagayan (Junior Baseball Philippines)
