Veterans King, del Rosario grab RP Open bowling lead
MANILA, Philippines â Veteran RP team campaigners Chester King and Liza del Rosario grabbed the menâs and womenâs singles lead in the 38th Philippine International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships at the Paengâs Midtown Bowl. King, who won the all-events gold in the 20th Asian championships in Hong Kong last year, and 2007 RP Open womenâs Masters champion del Rosario rolled big games late Monday night to dislodge early leaders Jeff Chan and Apple Posadas to lead the Class O division of the 15-day tournament. King bowled games of 213, 210 and 262 for a 685 total to relegate junior bowler Chan to second place (683) while Kennth Chua remained third at 679. Del Rosario, meanwhile, began her three-game series with lines of 234 and 209 before ending it with a 214 for a 657 tally. Former leader Posadas slid to second place with a 649 while defending champion Krizziah Taborah was third with her 624 aggregate. The Trios events also had some changes as King, Raoul Miranda and Frederick Ong â who won the trios gold in the 2008 Asian championships â combined for 1,333 to grab the lead. The trio is 82 pins ahead of the team that includes 2006 world menâs Masters titlist Biboy Rivera, Jonas Baltasar and Paulo Valdez (1,251). Del Rosario teamed up with Taborah and Kim Lao to lead the womenâs division with their 1,186 tally. â GMANews.TV
