Tabora, King sizzle in singles play of RP open bowling


MANILA, Philippines – Krizziah Tabora made known of her intention of keeping the Classo O ladies singles crown while Chester King regained the lead in the men’s side as the 38th Philippine International Tenpin Bowling Championships entered the seventh day of competitions at the Paeng’s Midtown Bowl in Malate, Manila. Tabora, 18, sizzled with a three-game series of 719 (239.6 average) to secure the top spot rolling lines of 226, 269 and 224 while King – a double gold-medalist in last year’s Asian championships in Hong Kong – regained the lead of the men’s open masters qualifying. Tabora also topped the qualifying of the Open Youth Girls’ Masters with her 1,338 total dropping early leader Dyan Coronacion (1,185) in second place. King, meanwhile, tallied 1,392 to overtake Biboy Rivera (1,388) for the men’s open masters lead. Paulo Valdez remained at third with a 1,373. Philippine team mainstay Liza Del Rosario kept her ladies open masters lead with 1,304 followed by the 1,272 of Kim Lao and the 1,243 of RP team stalwart Apple Posadas. Other new leaders in the 16 day kegfest, organized by the Philippine Bowling Congress, were Audi Castro (1,280) in Men’s Graded Masters; Kenneth Piedad (1,218) in Men’s Associate Masters; Jojie Cabacungan (1,092) in Ladies’ Associate Masters; Rolly Delideli in Men’s Rookie Masters; Brown Yoon (1,307) and Mila Robles (1,175) in the Men’s and Ladies Senior Masters. The first batch of foreign participants arrive on Saturday with US Pro rookie and World championship gold medalist Tim Mack, 2007 Philippine Open winner Wu Siu Hong of Hong Kong and reigning Asian Ranked No. 1 Hussain Al-Suwaidi of UAE expected to challenge the local bowlers. – GMANews.TV
