Little Olympics sets higher goals for grassroots development
MANILA, Philippines â The Milo Little Olympics is raising the bar further to help the country with its grassroots sports development program. The Little Olympics is hoping to find the best athletes in the elementary and high school levels and at the same time prepare them for international competition. The Little Olympics, to save time, will simultaneously hold the NCR and Visayas regional elimination on September 4 and 5 at the Marikina Sports Complex and the Cebu City Sports Complex. The Luzon and Mindanao eliminations will also be simultaneously held on September 11 at the Narciso Ramos Sports Complex in Lingayen, Pangasinan and at the Pelaez Sports Center in Cagayan de Oro City. The gold medal winners in the elementary and high school division will advance into the National finals in Cebu City from October 23 to 25. Expect the regional elimination to be tougher with the entry of national training pool members. The Milo Little Olympics will have 10 regular sports and two special events that will be played in the four regional elimination round and the National finals. Athletics, badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, taekwondo, swimming, volleyball, table tennis and lawn tennis are the regular sports while sepak takraw and scrabble are the two special events. â GMANews.TV
