PSC brings Manila-based coaches to Marinduque
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) held its Women in Sports 2009 Nationwide Program in Gasan, Marinduque recently, bringing along veteran coaches to conduct clinics for Marinduqueñas. Teaching the basics of sports to participants from the different towns of Marinduque during the six-day event were Jaime Mora and Rodolfo Eco (sepak takraw), Sergio Isada, Jr. and Ivan Isada (volleyball), and Rafael Dionisio (badminton). The clinics served as the culminating activity for the six-day event, which also featured badminton, volleyball and sepak takraw tournaments as well as a 5K fun run and a volleyball meet. Topping the winnersâ list were Alesa Jabat of Barangay Banot who clocked 25:42 in the 5K run, Tapuyan National High School (sepak takraw secondary division), Bognuyan National High School (softball secondary division); Bognuyan Elementary School (elementary volleyball); Shaira Astryd Selva of Bang Bang Elementary School (elementary badminton singles); Aireen Rodriguez of Bang Bang NHS (secondary badminton singles). According to PSC Commissioner Akiko Thomson-Guevara, Women in Sports, which espouses the theme âBabae, Yaman Ka ng Bayan," is aimed at promoting women awareness and participation in physical fitness and sports activities. â GMANews.TV
