WCC forces rubber match with Miriam, 74-70
World Citi Colleges, banking on the inspired shooting of Callie Pangilinan, defeated Miriam College, 74-70, Sunday at the St. Scho gym and forced a winner-take-all Game 3 for the WNCAA 37th season Senior B basketball title. Pangilinan topscored with 23 points and teamed up with Eva Sampan and Leolyn Cortez, who both chipped in 16 points each, in leveling the title series at 1-1. Katrina Escali led Miriam, which won Game 1, 70-44, with 19 points. The rubber match is set for Saturday, October 14, also at the St. Scholastica gym. In the juniors Final Four round, eliminations topnotcher Miriam still refused to lose, clinching the first finals seat with an 86-51 win over No. 4 squad San Beda College Alabang. May Binamira topscored with 18 points for Miriam, which ended the elims with an 8-0 slate.
