WNCAA: Lyceum retains volleyball title


Lyceum of the Philippines successfully defended its title in the Senior A volleyball crown, of the WNCAA 37th season best-of-three volleyball finals over the weekend at the Rizal Technological University (RTU) gym. World Citi Colleges (WCC) bagged the Senior B crown, and San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) went home with the Midgets crown. Lyceum retained its title by beating RTU — 25-19, 25-20, 25-13. WCC repulsed St. Scholastica's College — 25-15, 21-25, 25-23, 25-9 — and SBCA dominated St. Scholastica's — 25-18, 25-16. Lyceum's Sherrilyn Carillo was named Senior A Most Valuable Player and was joined in the Mythical Six by teammates Dahlia Cruz, Bernadette Satsatin, and Beverlo Boto; St. Francis of Assisi College's Shara Gonzaga; and RTU's Angel Baduria. Shella Marga also of Lyceum was adjudged Best Libero. Senior B MVP was WCC's Maria Ludin Racelis. Completing the Mythical Six were teammate Reann Lacanlale, St. Scho's Joana Obo and Sandra Gie Bocar, SBCA's Mossah Maica Carlos, and University of Asia & the Pacific's Andrea Yu. The Midgets MVP trophy went to San Beda's Marie Eula Ugalde and the rest of the Mythical Six members were teammate Margarita Matias, St. Scho's Ludy Anne Tianzon and Patricia Marzan, Miriam's Pam Adrianne Legaspi, and De La Salle Zobel's Julianne Caluglug. In the Junior division, No. 1 St. Scho will meet No. 4 Miriam, and No. 2 SBCA tackles No.3 DLSZ in next week's semifinal phase. Lyceum cagers forced into Game 3 In constrast to its victory in volleyball, Lyceum was forced to a winner-take-all Game 3 in the Senior A basketball finals late Sunday, yielding to College of St. Benilde, 51-48.- GMANews.TV
