PSC opens PhilSports to Pasig City evacuees

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has opened the PhilSports Arena (formerly ULTRA) to evacuees in Pasig City following the onslaught of typhoon “Ondoy" and the onset of “Pepeng". President Gloria Arroyo ordered the opening of the arena to the typhoon victims after a Cabinet meeting in Cainta Friday afternoon. PSC chairman Harry Angping said that the government sports agency is now ready to accommodate victims who will be at the PhilSports Arena. “We have opened ULTRA for relief operations. We have mobilized all personnel and resources for them," Angping said. Angping added that the PSC is preparing its maintenance personnel to house several hundreds of families in Pasig City whose houses are still flooded a week after “Ondoy" lashed the country. The PhilSports Arena is located inside PhilSports Complex, which also houses dormitories of national athletes, offices of national sports associations and the headquarters of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC). – GMANews.TV
